Elimination or Remove of Duplicate Links on a Sitemap in Drupal

What is Drupal, CMS, or CMF ?
Drupal is an open source CMS (Content Management System) and CMF (Content Management Framework) that is written in PHP programming language. It is developed and maintained by a community of web developers and software users. It is a free software package and it is distributed under the general public license.
Content Management System (CMS) is a system that provides a collection of procedures that manages work flow in a company, including management of the company's website. This may be a computer-based process that allows users to have access to the website and manage either content or appearance.

Search engine optimization (SEO) or achieving higher ranking in the search engine page result is one of the major objectives of any website, be in corporate or personal website. You would want your website to appear on top of the search engine results page so that you get maximum clicks and visitors to the site. However, if your website is not optimized, the whole purpose of creating a website for enhancing your business would be defeated.

Several factors can be responsible for lowering your Drupal website search engine rankings. The most common factor that affects the website's ranking is the duplicate links and content indexed on the site. The web spiders track down the duplicate links and content on the website and consider the website with duplicate links as threat and consequently move the website down the search engine. One of the most common areas where duplicate links on the Drupal website are found is in the website sitemap.

If you find duplicate links on your Drupal website and it is affecting your site rankings, the following tips will help you remove the duplicate links from the sitemap:

1. To remove the duplicate links on your drupal website sitemap, you must first log in to your website by typing the site URL. Next, navigate your way through to the admin of the website by typing yourwebsitedomainame.com/user. You can access the admin by typing your userid and password.

2. Once you enter the admin, click on the modules option. You would see the list of modules installed on your Drupal website.

3. Find out the 'sitemap' module form the list and click on the configure option besides the module.

4. When you click on the configure option, check the value entered in the 'categories depth' field. If the value entered in the field is all, change the value from all to '-1' (without any quotes).

5. After you change the value, click on the Save option to remove the duplicate links on your Drupal website. Once the duplicate links are removed your website is sure to get higher rankings on the search engines.

Another alternative to remove the duplicate links from the Drupal website is to remove the already installed website module and re-install the new and advanced Drupal's XML sitemap module. This module allows you create a sitemaps that are recognized better by the search engines. While installing the module, you have the option to include or exclude certain content types such as articles, pages and taxonomy. If you wish to remove a particular content link from the sitemap generated by the module you can remove the same by manually excluding it from the content editor. Refresh the sitemap and the link you excluded would be removed automatically.

Use the above tips to remove the duplicate links and be sure that your Drupal website is ranked higher.

Lead Generation : Build Your Own List to Generate Quality Leads

If you are really serious about generating high quality leads, you should think about creating your own marketing list instead of buying from online companies. Here's how you can do that:

1. Traffic.

The first thing that you need to do is to drive enormous traffic to your website. Doing this may take some time and energy but you can be assured that it will worth it. Start by optimizing your web content and building inbound links so your site will come up prominently on relevant searches. Then, promote your site through blogging, forum posting, article marketing, video marketing, and social media marketing.

2. Opt-in Forms.

Make sure that you put enticing opt-in forms on all pages of your website. You can also use those floating opt-in forms that will usually come up before your visitors leave your site. Do not ask for too much information. Names and contact information are enough.

3. Communicate Benefits.

Create a page within your website where you can discuss the benefits that your potential clients can get once they sign up with you. For easy reading, I recommend that you list them in bullet points. It would help if you can put testimonials of your other subscribers.

4. Freebies.

Online users will most likely to share their name and email address with you if they are getting something in return. Offer them with free eBooks, Newsletters, or reports. You can also invite them to attend your Teleseminars for free. Make sure that your freebies speak volumes about your expertise to easily earn the trust and confidence of these people.

Get The First Spot on The First Page in Google SERP

Almost 8 out of 10 people search the web to find services - buy gadgets, clothes, find doctors, find restaurants, order food and almost everything you can imagine...

Internet opened up a big box full of services and your business has to be in that box otherwise you miss 8 out 10 of your potential customers.

It is almost a crime for you business, if you don't have a web presence.

Only 2 in 10 still use dusty, thick, paper directory books - like Yellow Pages.

8 out 10 search the BIG 3 to get information. Big 3 search engines are the dominant names on the search market:
  1. Google
  2. Bing
  3. Yahoo
Combined, BIG 3 represent more than 95% of the search market.

ASK and AOL completes the picture with other 4-5%. Stats from comScore proved it.

Who uses Google? Bing? Yahoo?

The answer is everybody relies on Search Engines more and more each and every day and Internet gets into our life from all the angels.

Our PC is connected to the Internet, our smart phones and tablets are too and even the old TV has a smart set-top box that links it to the mighty WWW.

So, we all are hooked in, but who uses what?

- Google tends to attract more skeptic individuals that search a lot until they decide where to buy from.

- Yahoo still has more conservators users, Yahoo's loyal and somehow older, which also search less until they buy things.

- Bing powers Yahoo now and it will bring the change for old Yahoo - Bing has a new breed of users - the skeptics that dislike Google and want a different search experience.

So, it's damn important to get your business listed on the big WWW and also you want it placed as high as possible in BIG 3's SERP (Search Engine Return Page).

Once you are there, you want your business to be visited and get thousands of potential customers, but actually who gets the traffic?

It's definitely a step forward to have a Site, Blog, and Social Media presence for your Business, but to get the traffic you need to AIM for PAGE #1 in SERP of BIG 3's.

How much traffic Google's Page#1 gets?

Let's start saying...a lot....almost everybody gets the info from first page, which by default has 10 organic results displayed on it.

Very rare, we adventure exploring Page 2, Page 3, Page 4....of SERP and even if we do, probably we do it for research purposes and NOT to BUY something.

If you want your SERVICES to be bought....you need to be on PAGE#1 of SERP for all your most important keywords.

Page #1 gets 90-95% of the traffic; the other pages get only impressions and NO CLICKS.

It's true that Page #1 in Google, by example, gets all the cream and based on stats the Top 10 traffic split would be (example below is based on my experience and my websites stats):

Get the first spot on the first page in Google SERP for your important key phrases and you will get between 35% and 60% of the clicks from a particular key traffic - percentage may depends on your particular niche.

Second spot is not bad either, it will give you 10-20% of the clicks and number 3 brings at least 10%.

In almost all the niches, from forth place onwards you will get less than 10% of the clicks and the drop is more linear than for the first three positions.

Create a Legend in Google's Mind

Whether you agree or not, Google has become the most dominant marketing presence in the world. But the real question you should be asking yourself, does Google think you are a legend?
When someone goes to Google and searches for you, are they finding an overwhelming amount of information about you, including useful information that makes them want to do business with you? Or are they finding a picture of you from the first grade that your friend tagged you in?

With the slowdown in the economy and the increasing cost of traditional marketing and rising media costs, wouldn't it be better to let Google establish you as an expert in your field. It may sound difficult, but it's as easy as hiring the right writer to create a legend for you, in Google's mind.

When it comes to websites, the more traffic you can get, the more likely you are to sell something. It doesn't matter if it's a service or a product. For most business owners, the purpose of the website is to sell something. However, marketing is changing, and as a business owner, you need to change with it.

Website marketing is now becoming more about providing information and expertise to your potential customer than it is about automatically selling your customer something. The term is called pull marketing and it's changing the way businesses do business.

AN EXPERT OR JUST A SALESMAN:

Sales people have never really been thought of as experts in their respective fields. Sales people are charged with selling their company's products. Some of the best sales people though, don't actually sell. Rather, they provide information to their potential customer. Then, they let the customer decide whether they want to do business with an expert or take their chances somewhere else. In effect, they make the buying process about buying information and experience, rather than about product.
Ideally, as a small business owner, you want to be considered the expert that people go to first and then subsequently purchase from. But how do you establish your expertise?

BUILD A LEGEND:

One of the quickest and guaranteed methods of creating expertise is making sure you are found, when someone searches for you on Google. Start with a search of Google, to see if you even show up. If you aren't on the first page, then it's time to build your legend.

Legend building starts with deciding what information you have to offer your potential customers that will help them out, but will also drive them to request more information, specifically from you. To do that, you have to become findable.

THE QUICK:

The quickest way to be found is to hire a professional writer to collaborate with, to create more original and interesting content for your website, your blog, and about you. Most people find it incredibly difficult to write their own experiences and expertise. Even though they experts on the topic, they can't seem to write interesting copy. The solution, hire a professional writer to do the heavy lifting. Once these pieces are written, start putting them up on websites, put them out to the public. Remember, once something is out on the Internet, it can never be put back in. That's why you should consider a professional writer to provide the content for you. It's as easy an interview and the writer does the rest.

THE DEAD:

Of course, there are wrong ways to go about this as well. Again, consider once something is out on the Internet, there really isn't a way to get rid of it, at least not without a whole lot of work. So, before you consider just writing and publishing, consider that if it's bad, it might do more damage than good for your legend.

So, start by finding a good writer, then Google them, read their articles, check their samples and read their content. If you don't feel comfortable that this writer can tell your story compellingly, move on to someone else. Writing interesting content is an art form. Find a specialist, it will be worth it.

Claim Your Own Share of Your Site Business

How Do Search Engines Work?

What we refer to today as a search engine is a more complex search portal. Search portals are generally synonymous with gateway, for a World Wide Web site that is or proposes to be a major starting site for users when they get connected to the Web and need to find information. There are portals of a generalised nature and specialized or niche portals. Some major general portals include Google, Yahoo, Excite, Netscape, Lycos, CNET, Microsoft Network.
Here, I will examine the typical composition of a search engine results page (SERP). Every search portal delivers results from different data sources. The different ways in which each search portal prepares and serves these information to the users is what gives each portal its own unique identity.

The SEO strategy you adopt for your site can be affected by changes to the way a major search portal presents its search results.

A typical search engine results page is comprised of three major components: spider-based (organic) listing, sponsored listings, and directory listings. Not all SERPs contain all three components, and some portals incorporate additional data sources depending on the search term used.

1. Spider-based (Organic) Listings

Spider based results are featured as the primary element of SERPs by most search portals. These listings are referred to as editorial, free, natural, or organic. For consistency, I will be referring to spider-based listings as organic listing throughout the rest of this article.

Each spider based engine uses its own unique algorithm, or formula to determine the order of search results. The databases that power organic search results primarily contain pages that are found by web crawling spiders. Some search providers offer paid inclusion and trusted feed programs that guarantee the inclusion of certain pages in the database.

Organic search listings are the primary focus for search engine marketers and consultants, but they are not the only focus. The continued use of pay-per-click is essential to a well rounded strategy. It paramount to know that most of today's search portals do not operate their own spider-based search engine; instead they acquire results from one of the major search players like Google and Yahoo. There are many search portals in the market, but only a handful operate crawling search engines. The following major search portals operate their own spiders, Google, Yahoo, Ask and MSN.

2. Sponsored (Pay-per-click) Listings

It costs alot of money to run a search portal. Spider based engines operate an extremely high expense, and expense that most can't afford. Portals that don't operate their own spider based search engines must always pay to obtain spider search results from portals that does. Today, even the smallest size search portal can generate revenue through sponsored listings. Sponsored listings is simply where a company has paid to have their site prominently listed when someone searches for certain words or phrases. Sponsored listings is used primarily used as their primary search results by Meta search engines.

Sponsored listings in addition to helping search portal stay afloat, provide an excellent complement to organic search engines by connecting searchers with advertisers whose sites might not otherwise appear in the search results.

Majority of portals do not operate their own pay-per-click advertising service. They instead show sponsored results from one or more partners and earn a percentage of those advertisers' fees. The major PPC providers are Google AdWords, Yahoo Search Marketing and Microsoft's adCentre.

The PPC advertising model is simple. Advertisers place bids against specific search terms. Advertisers' ads are returned with the search results, when searchers click on one of those words or terms. Advertisers are charged per click amount they bid for those terms each time searchers click on those words or terms.

Different ranking methods are used by different PPC providers to rank their sponsored listings. These methods start by advertisers bidding against each other to have their ads appear alongside the results returned for various search terms' but each method has its own broad matching options to allow a single bid to cover multiple search terms.

PPC ranking systems are no longer as simple as allocating the highest positions to the highest bidders.Google's methodology, combines the click through rate of an advertiser's listing (that is, the number of clicks divided by the number of times the sponsored listing is displayed) with the advertiser's bid in assessing where the PPC advertisement will be located. One of the reasons why Google has gained popularity significantly is, that its method tends to optimise the revenue generated per search.

3. Directory Listings

Directory originate from human edited web directories, such as Look Smart, The Open Directory, and the Yahoo Directory. Most search portals offer directory results as an optional search, thereby requiring the user to click to see them. Search portals have lately reduced their emphasis on directory listings, as quality of organic search results improved.

However, the importance of directory listings has not diminished in obtaining organic engines rankings.

Search Engine Optimisation

It is vital to note that there are two steps involved in getting a web page into search results pages.
  1. Getting in the search index.
  2. Getting the web page to the top of the final indexed results before it is presented to the searcher.
The first step is relatively easy to accomplish. You need to let the spiders know that your new web pages exists and how to find them. This can be easily be achieved by pointing to the new page from an already indexed page. Some search providers provide an option for a new URL to be manually submitted for inclusion into their index.

Achieving step 2 successfully is the most difficult. Bulk of Search Engine Optimization tasks is centered around this. Search engines spend some incredible amount of time and effort on making their algorithms find find the best ways to effectively rank sites. According to the Search Engine leader Google, there are in excess of 200 factors that determine the rank of a web page in the SERPs (Search Engine Results Pages).

SEO is the process of making changes to your web pages to conform to Search Engines standards in order to rank at the top of Search Engine Results for related keywords that your site optimised for.

What Do Search Engines Look For?

Before delving into the specifics of SEO, let me first explain what search engines really want.

Search Engines have a goal of been able to fulfill the search needs of its users by providing with highly targeted relevant information. Google makes most of its money from selling advertisements that are served along with regular search results. Google is able to do this because it is the market leader and the most popular search engine in the world.Google is widely used because it provides users with the relevant results from their searches.

What Search Engines Don't Like

It is extremely important to have a sound knowledge of what search engines don't want in order to succeed in your SEO campaign. The lack of this knowledge may mean that, your perfectly optimized site may not be indexed and could even be banned. Therefore, when you learn about factors that influence search engine rankings, you should also learn which tactics to avoid.

Spam

Search providers hate tactics intended to fool them into awarding high rankings to irrelevant pages. These tactics are called "spam." They strive to provide the most relevant results to their users, but spam clutters their indices with irrelevant information.

Some website owners create spam after they have learned which criteria spiders use to rank pages. For example, they give high scores to pages filled with keywords. This is termed as keyword stuffing. Website owners and Webmasters came up with a way to add more keywords without sacrificing a site's appearance. Invisible text are used ( the background and the text are the same colour, so the text is not seen by the visitors). Previously, robots that indexed invisible keywords ranked those sites higher for keyword frequency and weight.

Spiders are now familiar with this technique and class it as spam. The use of invisible text can get your site banned from most leading engines.

The following techniques are usually considered spam by major search engines:
  • Meta refresh tags
  • Invisible text and overuse of tiny text
  • Irrelevant keywords in the title and meta tags
  • Excessive repetition of keywords (classed as keyword stuffing)
  • Overuse of mirror sites (same sites that point to different URLs)
  • Submitting too many pages in one day
  • Identical or nearly identical pages
  • Submitting to an inappropriate category (for directories)
  • Link farms
  • Frames, dynamic content and Flash intros.
Although search engines won't penalize you for the use of frames, dynamic content and multimedia files, they will have difficulty indexing such pages.

Recently, some engines started to index dynamic content. However, most search engines are still unable to index multimedia and dynamic pages, and those that are, don't index all of them. Here's a list of files that search engines don't index:
  • Text in graphics (use ALT tags)
  • Pages that require registration, cookies or passwords
  • XML
  • Java applets
  • Acrobat files (PDF), except Google
  • Dynamic content (URLs with "?" in them), except Google, AltaVista, FAST and Inktomi
  • Multimedia files (Flash, Shock wave, streaming video)
Build Workaround Pages to Avoid Indexing Problems

If your site consists largely of files that search engines don't index, create workaround pages. Workaround pages should contain the most important information about your products or services. Workaround pages should be optimized just like doorway pages.

Search engines will index workaround pages even if they can't index the rest of a site. Always link to these pages from your site map to make sure search engines can spider them, and submit workaround pages rather than non-optimized pages.

Conclusion

SEO Best Practices to Consider

There are tried and tested SEO tactics that you can use to ensure your site is successfully crawled, indexed, and positioned in the major search engine results pages. Though SEO tactics evolve with the technologies used to render Web sites, certain fundamentals remain constant.

When learning optimization you are really learning how to optimize for Google. Why, because Google have a 60 percent search share of all search engine traffic and own provide search results for much smaller engines such as Ask and AOL.

So your wondering how do we optimize in order to prevail in the profitable Google rankings. Well there are lots of things to consider but today I want to consider 4 of them, and I feel these are the most important. They are PageRank, LocalRank, anchor text links and semantics.

PageRank is an absolute value given to one of your web pages, remember Google indexes web pages not sites. Page Rank will depend on a number of factors but is mainly focused on inbound links and how many sites from its index link to yours. It is not just quantity that PageRank is based on, it is also quality. A quality link will consist of a few things, it must come from a relevant, high PR page that has unique regularly updated content. That is the perfect link.

Local Rank is something people are less familiar with but it is basically a scaled down version of PageRank. Local rank very much depends on the link structure of your site. Links from local business or directories will give you are higher score for searches from that area, also a good local rank score will be very influential on your overall PR.

Anchor text linking is the one every newbie seems to struggle with and it is so simple. If you have a link from a site it will give you no value if that link says, great site click here, however if you had an seo site and the link said, search engine optimization, that would give you some link juice or weight.

Semantics is a new edition to the Google software and without making things too complex it basically analyzes content on your site. It knows what words mean and when they should be used together, it uses semantics to run its AdSense program and it also helps to stop keyword spammers. This is a part of the Google formula that most webmasters seem to ignore, however it should be kept in mind when writing content and linking.

Search engine optimization is a massive subject but these are some very basics you should know when optimizing for Google. If you don't have the time and energy to learn SEO then your best bet is to hire an SEO consultant.

Which One to Choose From? And, What Are DoFollow and NoFollow Blog?

You might have heard about increasing Google page rank with DoFollow Blogs. Before going into how such blogs and websites can help you in increasing your blog or website page rank, lets throw some light on the concept behind DoFollow and NoFollow.

NoFollow is the relationship attribute for hyperlinks in HTML (Hypertext Markup Language). HTML is responsible for rendering web pages in web browsers. These attributes tells search engine bots either to follow/crawl the associated Hyperlink or not.

Consider the following commonly used markup for a hyperlink:

<b><a target="_new" rel="nofollow" href="yoursite.com/your-post">Your Website</a></b>

Above markup corresponds to a DoFollow link, which means the resulting link will be followed by Search Engine Spiders.

Now, If we put a NoFollow relationship attribute in this markup, the resulting link will not be followed by Search Engine Spiders:

<b><a target="_new" rel="nofollow" href="yoursite.com/your-post">rel="nofollow"</em>><b>Your Website</b></a></b>

Note: DoFollow is neither a word nor an HTML attribute, it's just a name given to Blogs or Links, which don't implement NoFollow attributes.

Some people think, using:

<b><em><a rel="dofollow"></em></b> or <b><a rel="follow"></b> with a particular Hyperlink, makes the link followed by Search Engine Bots, but such attributes doesn't exists in reality. Using such wrong attributes may cause a link to appear as SPAM to Search Engine Bots. If you want to make a link followed/crawled (DoFollow), simply don't use any type of relationship attribute with it.

Also Inbound or Internal Links are the Hyperlinks present in a particular page of your Blog/Website, which points to other Posts/Pages present within your Blog/Website, whereas Outbound or External Links are the Hyperlinks present in a particular page of your Blog/Website, which points to Posts/Pages of some other Blog/Website.

Now, it is quite understandable that blogs and websites using no relation attributes in their links are DoFollows.

So, does a DoFollow Blog increases Google PageRank of your website?

People, especially Webmasters, usually search for DoFollow blogs with high PageRank (PR) to submit comments on articles there. It's a basic link-building strategy. Also, Webmasters makes their blog DoFollow in order to increase responses and traffic.

If you're commenting honestly after reading an article, that's fine, but what if you're the one whose own blog is DoFollow? It is a firm belief among Bloggers and Webmasters all over the globe, that DoFollow links may PASS the Google Juice of a blog/page (Decrease PageRank).

Bloggers and webmasters have complete control over allowing or restricting Hyperlink to be followed by Search Engine Bots, in there Posts and Pages. But when it comes to comments, it is the back end (template of the blog), which controls the link relationship behavior (which is nofollow by default). But, It can also be modified by means of some advanced editing or plugin usage.

Here are some Pros and Cons of having a DoFollow Blog:

Pros/Advantages of Having a DoFollow Blog:
  • More comments.
  • Increased traffic. Hence, increased number of Pageviews and Ad Revenue
  • Number of RSS Feed Subscriber will increase dramatically, as they always want to follow your Blog Updates and Comment on them.
  • The blog might get a place in DoFollow Blog Directories and Lists.

Cons/Disadvantages of Having a DoFollow Blog:
  • Increased number of SPAM comments.
  • Less honest responses.
  • The link juice of a particular page will be distributed to outbound or external links (which are present in the comments), hence causing (severe) loss in PR.
  • Opportunity for selling Text Link Advertisements will be greatly reduced, as the advertiser will be using the Comment Area of your Blog for getting Backlinks for FREE.

Tip: Do not use rel="nofollow" in your inbound links.

How to know if a blog is DoFollow or NoFollow?

Some people announce in their blog posts about the DoFollow nature of their blog, and sometimes they are even able to invite comments on a totally Useless Article.

In order to determine whether a blog is DoFollow or NoFollow in nature, pick up a name of someone who already commented there, view source of that web page and find that name, now see whether the hyperlink tag contains rel="nofollow" or not, if not it's a DoFollow Blog. You can also use Highlight NoFollow links Add-On for Mozilla Firefox to figure out NoFollow links on a blog without even viewing the source.

What should I choose: DoFollow or NoFollow?

A NoFollow Blog is acceptable when you give priority to honest reviews/comments and PR juice first. Those who want more comments as well as traffic (hence increased AdSense and other Ad Network revenue) may use DoFollow blogs on their own risk.

What I prefer: I don't think a DoFollow blog is going to bring you popularity. You can test yourself: Your most of the Top/Regular Commentator will be permanently GONE as soon as you switch your Blog Comment Area to NOFOLLOW.

So, if you're in the Blogosphere to make Good Audience/Loyal Visitors, I will highly recommend you to switch to a NOFOLLOW Blog. Hardly, anyone would like to lose his/her PR.
But then it's completely your own decision.

5 Reasons Why NoFollow Links Shouldn't Be Ignored

Many link builders ignore the 'NoFollow' attribute due to the fact that the search engine spiders will not visit or pass on 'link juice'. We are often asked if we include NoFollow links when planning a campaign strategy, and the answer is a resounding YES.

Here are 5 reasons why NoFollow links should be a part of any linkbuilding campaign:
  1. Profile: The single most important aspect of building a successful link campaign is maintaning a 'natural link profile'. The main search engines consider the type and balance of links and this profile must appear as natural as possible. If a web page only has high-PR DoFollow links, that site will appear to have an unnatural profile and may be penalised.
  2. Traffic: A link is a link is a link! The more traffic that is generated, the higher that websites profile becomes and the greater the chance that new natural links will be generated.
  3. Branding: The more a websites name and URL is seen within its target sector, the more 'trust' that is built within the community.
  4. Authority: Website links seen in conjunction with 'authorative' comments, posts and responses, build a greater level of authority, which pre-conditions visitors with positivity and can ultimately boost conversions.
  5. Relationship: Using the example of blog commenting, regular commenting will usually allow you to form a relationship with the blogger, often unlocking additional (DoFollow) link building opportunities.

So, it follows that NoFollow should be incorporated into any strategy as a means of extending the reach of your website both directly and indirectly.

What is Supposed To Do : Concern to SEO or Focus on Content to Connection ?

Search Engine Optimization is a process whereby websites and blogs are configured in order to gain top ranking for search results on Google, Yahoo, Bing or any other search engine. It also involves promoting the site through back-linking or having the links of your blog or website posted on higher ranking websites and blogs.

What good S.E.O. is supposed to do is to give your website or blog high visibility in searches for key words contained in your blog. If you target the right key words and manage to get into the top 10 of searches for those key words as well as the right back-links, the desired result should be a good amount of traffic or visits from people.

S.E.O., in itself, can be stifling. The search for the right key words and the right websites to link to will take some time and a lot of skillful analysis. But, if done right, it can be rewarding.
Fairly established and popular blogger will not be too eager to admit it, but they do fret over S.E.O. and their visitor statistics.

When I encountered the term S.E.O. for blogs, a lot of people were marketing the idea that the right S.E.O. could "explode your traffic" and "get you tons of leads, subscribers, etc". Back then, it was an enticing prospect and I bought into the idea.
By reading through all the material I could find, I managed to understand enough S.E.O. and apply what I've learned on my own website.
But after months of using a writing style that accommodated S.E.O., I realized that I was writing in a rather odd way; quite different from the conversational style that I try to manifest in whatever I am writing about.

I am not saying that writing in a conversational and engaging manner is not possible with S.E.O.

What I am pointing at is that, personally, it's something that I'd prioritize next to last so that I can get my writing groove on. Dealing with a writer's block is bad news enough by itself. Dealing with a writer's block and having to construct an article with S.E.O. in mind is even worse.
Between writing a good blog post and writing a good article with S.E.O., the new blogger ought to choose to focus on coming up with enough quality content to make a good blog post.

Why?

After people find your blog post, the next thing they'll do should be to read it. There is not much sense in having your blog post found through great S.E.O. if the next thing they'll do is hit the 'back' button and skedaddle of to another site or blog.
How does one come up with a good blog? Here's a proven approach to creating a blog and blogging that is so basic and yet works so well.

Step first: Have a definite idea about what your blog will be about

The first thing you should do is to decide on what your blog will be about. Your blog can be about one subject or topic or several topics. However, in my experience, blogs that focus on just one topic have a higher likelihood of getting good quality traffic than blogs that have a multitude of topics.
One of the reasons for this is basically human behavior when it comes to searching for things. When searching for things, most people will always look first in places where they expect to find what they are looking for and even after finding what they are looking for in one place, they'll continue on searching the place for similar or related things.

The best and most productive exercise you can do even before you buy a domain name, a blog platform, and get a web hosting service is to write your "about" page.
The "about" page will not only tell people visiting your blog what it is about, it will also help you keep you stick with the main subject of your blog.

Step second: READ

Reading up extensively on your subject is crucial if you want to become authoritative when writing about it.
Beyond this, making sure that you get the latest information about your subject is key.
In the blogging world, as with the world of mainstream news, there is a high premium placed on information that is new, substantial, dramatic, first-hand and not freely available or exclusive.
But, since not everyone can get such information all the time or at all, the next best thing is to come up with a blog post that discusses any new information with depth and analysis, which brings us to Step Third:

Step Third: THINK

Critical thinking is key to writing any good article. A good quote attributed to Abraham Lincoln by a friend says, "Give me six hours to chop a tree and I'll spend the first four hours sharpening the ax."
Critical thinking involves a process which involves examining information, checking personal biases, and making decisions.
The quality of one's thinking will always be reflected in the quality of one's writing.

Step Fourth: WRITING

The easiest and best way to come up with a title for your blog post is to include words that would simply yet accurately describe the content of your blog post. You can be as creative and interesting with the title as you want, but make sure that you include words or a central phrase that will tell the reader what the blog post is about.

The first paragraph of your post should include an interesting proposition, but keep it short.

The body of the entire document should be organized depending on the type of article you are writing. It is best to be adept at using the structures of essays, fiction writing, and news writing.
Others blog by donning a 'persona' and this can have interesting results.
But at the end of it, what people will be looking for is not just information or entertainment, but rather ideas and experiences that will help them come up with their own ideas and experiences.

After all, blogging is about fulfilling the human need for self-expression and connection.

SEO Friendly and Web Designing Services

SEO or Search Engine Optimization and web designing services are intrinsically related to one another. The development process are obviously different in both cases as different methods, analytics and analysis are followed, but it is undeniable that both SEO strategies and SEO friendly web design services contribute to the enhanced visibility of a website by enabling it to attain a better online presence. Before introspecting into the relation of SEO and web design and development, let us have an idea on how search engines (SE) work.

When a search query is entered in the search engine's search box, there are number of results that appear. However, the online users do no not usually go beyond the first page for satiating their requirements. So, it is the aim of every online business owner to make their business website appear in the first page of the Search Engine Result Page (SERP). All search engines use set of rules (algorithms) that process tons of information in quick span of time and filter it on the basis of the keyword or key phrase. Then, these filtered data are collected by search engines robots which virtually visit each website to collect keywords and code from them. Here is a secret! SEs obviously take the web content into account while crawling, but it composes only 20% of the whole process. Rather, SE crawling take the programme codes and the designs into account. Thus, SEO friendly web development service is necessary for making a website search engine friendly.

The programme codes that are used to develop the webpages, the relevant incoming links, and keywords usage are some of the most important factors which make the SE crawlers to index the web pages. Title Tag Optimization, Meta Descriptions and HTML source codes also play a dominant role in making the website 'crawlable'. Hence SEO friendly web development service is essential in order to improve the website's organic rank.

A professional SEO web designer not only makes sure that the website is visually appealing, but also sees to it that it is accessible to the SE spiders, so that it can be indexed by search engines. The website design should be such that there are proper navigation tools and must complement the service that the enterprises render. Putting in informative content is another vital point of SEO friendly web design and development service.

The SEO friendly web design and development companies emphasize on usage of proper heading tags, italic texts, bold text and lists. Normally, HTML codes of webpages have heading tags, italic tags and other lists and it is recommended to use them while developing a website. By using CSS, these tags can be styled in different ways. Using heading tags for headings and bold tags for important texts help the SEs to understand which text on the page is heading and which text is an important one.

There are many companies that offer SEO friendly web development as well as designing services. A professional SEO web development company seeks to increase website functionality and enhance its visibility by developing sites that are SE friendly.

The most common SEO friendly web design and development services include logo graphic designing, user friendly interface designing services and lots more. The ultimate aim of the SEO friendly web design and development services is to identify the end requirement of your business and achieve marketing goals, whereby, your site will experience increased traffic and better sales leads.

Here is a brief Google AdSense tutorial for those interested in finding ways to make more income without having to find another job.

What is Google AdSense?

Google AdSense is a free program that allows publishers online to be able make money with their online platforms by placing a simple code in their web scripts. This code displays relevant Google advertisements on their website. Any time someone clicks on the ads, the website owner makes an earning. The earnings will vary dependant upon the niches current economic status. Earnings then are calculated monthly and paid out to their publishers a month later.

Applying for a Free AdSense Account:

Although it will not cost anything to use the program, you do have to be approved first before you can use it. Approval is simple. You can apply with a current website you are using or you can create a new one. Make sure that when you do apply, that the website you are applying with has at least some quality published content. Do not apply with spam, copied articles, or junk on your website. In fact, don't even apply with any sort of website where it already looks like you are trying to make money with it. Here is a method you can use to ensure your approval into Google AdSense.

Sign up for a free Blogger.com account. Don't worry at all about what the blog should look like or any other minute details. Lucrative Connection Between Google and Blogs

Many people have discovered and are benefiting from the connection between blogs and Google Adsense. A lucrative connection that's earning them extra money each month as they receive their checks from Google. It's putting a big smile ontheir faces.

What's even more amazing, all this can be set up at zero-cost to anyone who can use a cursor. It's a totally free system that can earn your money eachand every month.

What gives? What's the connection?

Actually, there is no big secret, anyone can set up a blog or blogs and put Google's Adsense code on them. If you're new to the Internet or not a webmaster -- these things may have to be explained further.
Blogs are online journals where anyone can write on any subject or topic that interests them. Blogs are extremely popular with Internet users, with an estimated 60 million or more blogs on the web. Any and every topic (news, hobbies, sports, etc.) is covered in these blogs.

Creating a blog couldn't be easier, there are many online blogging sites that will let you set up a blog of your own for free. The two main biggies are bloglines.com  and blogger.com. It only takes minutes to create your own blog. Or many webmasters who don't want to go the 'free route' can use a system from wordpress.com and place or host the blogs on their own sites. It will give you a lot more options. Regardless which method you use, once you have your blog up and running, you will need to get a Google Adsense account here: https://www.google.com/adsense/

Google Adsense is an advertising system where you as the publisher places the Adsense code on your site. Google then uses this code to send targeted 'keyword guided' ads to be displayed on your site. If someone clicks on your Google ad, you earn a portion of the ad revenue. These ads come in many formats and sizes. Chances are you have already seen these 'Ads by Google' on many sites that you have visited, you may have even clicked on one or two.

Advertisers wanting visitors or customers to their sites, buy these ads using the Google Adword system. Commonly known as Pay-Per-Click advertising. This system is based on keywords, these are the words people use to search for things on the Internet. Because they are 'keyword based',  these ads match perfectly with the content on your site or blog - delivering well targeted visitors to the advertisers.

Google's Adsense program is very user friendly. Google lets you customize your ads to match the 'look and feel' of your site. Google also gives you some good advice on 'where' to place these ads on your site to increase your click-thru rate. It would be a good idea to read this section before you place the Adsense Code on your site or blog.

Google also lets you track your adsense code on 200 different urls (channels) so you can see which web pages or blogs are earning you money. As part of Google's Terms of Service (TOS), individual publishers are not allowed to discuss any Adsense earnings they get from Google.
However, one of the 'keys' to making ad revenue from your Google Adsense account has to do with 'keywords'. Obviously, some keywords are worth more than others, that is, certain keywords or phrases that people type into search engines will pay more. For example, which one do you think will bring in more revenue to your Adsense program, someone searching for a home loan or someone searching for a baseball cap.
Many webmasters or bloggers use sites like http://www.overture.com to see what advertisers are paying for certain keywords. Just as important, it will also give you the number of searches made by surfers for your chosen keywords or phrases last month.

The real trick is to set up a blog or blogs on popular (heavy traffic) topics or keywords that pay the most money to publishers like you. Also, it's best to create a blog or blogs on topics that will keep your interest for years to come. You do have to write interesting stories, facts, information on your topic in order to bring visitors and traffic to your blogs... so pick something that you're very passionate about.

Submit your blogs to all the blog directories, here's a good place to start: www.masternewmedia.org/rss/top55/
Once you have a regular flow of traffic to your blogs, you will see a regular flow of adsense income coming to you each month. The more traffic or page impressions you get, the more you could possibly earn.
Blogs use RSS to syndicate their content. RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication, the standard format for syndication of content from online blogs, news sites, forums and other web sites. Google has introduced a system where you can place your Adsense Code into your RSS Feeds. You have to apply separately to get into this program, it's only in Beta yet. But the potential for RSS Adsense could be very beneficial to bloggers, imagine getting your Adsense code syndicated to thousands upon thousands of subscribers or web sites.
Google has also gone so far as applying for a patent on RSS ads. This patent could give Google control of RSS advertising.  Regardless of whether or not Google is successful in this application; the potential of RSS Adsense is great and may have far reaching implications in the very near future. This
could also prove to be a very lucrative system for both Google and the ordinary webmaster or blogger.

Tips in Putting Up SEO Images

Good web content is indeed a very important factor in Search engine optimization. But what we don't realize is that Images are an asset for SEO as well. Like a very well-written content, images can also drive traffic to your website and inclusion in universal search results. Because of this fact, one must know how to put up the best SEO images for his website.

In using SEO Images, it is just like optimizing a tiny webpage within your page. And the factors you need to know for optimizing images for search engines includes URL structure, anchor text, and descriptive tagging. Listed below are a few tips for optimizing your images that can help their performance on web pages and in searches:

1. Finding the right image
Great images will add another element to an article or webpage that may encourage people to share the page to others and then create some back-links. Therefore, finding one is extremely important in optimizing your images.

2. Use keywords in its file name
You have to use keyword-rich words in the filename of your image because it is as important as putting keywords in your article. This also helps Google or other searches determine its relevancy. Google recommends that you should place the images in one folder on your site instead of placing them in different folders throughout the website. It also suggests that you use common image file types such as JPEG, GIF, PNG and BMP.

3. Make descriptive alt text
Using alt text or tags is a way for search engines to determine what your image is all about. Search engines rely on the captions you put around the image, alt texts, file names and surrounding texts, and adding descriptive texts helps search engines determine the content of your images. If you plan to use the image as navigation, for example as a link to another page, just be sure to use alt text that is significant to the content of the page it is being linked to.

4. Using the right Anchor Text
This part is also a very important factor in using Images for SEO. If you want to link images with text, your anchor text can play a role on how your image will rank for keywords. Remember to use a descriptive anchor text that describes your image.

5. Never Stuff
Don't just stuff keywords when filling out things like image alt text. This tip also goes out to all kinds of SEO, and in this case for image SEO. Use short, descriptive keywords and don't forget to optimize images for your blog visitors.
Using SEO images is all about user experience and achieving better ranks in the searches. Next time you do your search engine optimization, never forget to optimize the images you are going to use.

Linking SEO and Directories Together

While directories may be a key part of the SEO process, not all directories can add value. Finding websites that boast the best value can be tricky.
The top three annual fee-driven directories are Yahoo, Business.com, and Best of the Web Directory, while DMOZ is considered to be the best free directory. DMOZ has grown substantially over the last few years, with increasingly high standards and long approval times for new submissions.
These four directories should be among the first that SEO companies submit their clients to, as they will provide a good base and help with link profiles. Being listed on relevant directories with good PageRank can help your site appear more credible to the search engines.

After checking out the top four directories, finding additional relevant sites becomes trickier. Navigate to the directory you are considering using and find the page for the subcategory where your link would most likely be featured. If you search for the URL in Google, you will be able to see when the page was last crawled by viewing the cached version of the site. Forty days is a good cut off point for determining whether or not the site is worthwhile; anything after sixty is definitely not worth it.
When inspecting the various categories and subpages, it is important to note how recently the pages have been updated. Keep in mind more obscure topics may not be as updated as much as commonplace ones. The pages should show up in the Search Engine Results Pages (SERP) when you type in the key words followed by the word "directory". Noting how much traffic is drawn to the site and its pages is also an important part of determining its overall strength.

Knowing where a search engine ranks directories will help determine how likely it is that your link will be crawled. Search engines use spidering or crawling as a way to gather data and index downloaded pages in order to generate fast searches. This, in turn, will give you an idea of how much traffic and business might be generated on your end. Low quality directories are a waste, so make sure you are paying for high impact sites. Most SEO companies also recommend staggering directory submissions; lumping submissions together at the end of the month will not produce the best results for newer companies. Established companies with more inbound links can be submitted to directories in a shorter time frame as opposed to the three month recommended staggering for new websites.

Finding valuable directories and planning for an increased number of submission fees, SEO will continue to be coupled with directories for now. In this ever-changing industry, the relationship will surely evolve and grow as new features are implemented and SEO practices change.

SEO Techniques

Search engine optimization is the process of increasing the amount of visitors to a website by achieving a high ranking in the search results of a search engine (i.e. Yahoo, Google, etc.). The higher a website ranks in a search, the better the chance that a website will be visited. Most Internet users will not click through multiple pages of search results, so a high ranking in a search is necessary to direct more traffic to your website.
While a top listing is not guaranteed, there are a number of small steps that you can take to improve your chances of gaining a top ranking. I recommend the following 5 basic steps to produce a more desirable search engine listing:

1. Content Writing/Keywords

I’ve found that content targeting seems to be the most successful strategy. Search engines are beginning to use algorithms that identify the main themes of entire websites instead of just single pages. In order to create a main theme for search engine optimization, you must identify a focused group of keywords that exist on and are relevant to the content on most pages of your website.
In practical terms, if you’re writing an article, service description or sales copy for your website, focus on creating informative and interesting content, but factor in keyword phrases that are more likely to give you a better ranking with the search engines.
Key word selection can be a rather complex process as there are many different factors that come into play when search engines decide the ranking of your webpage and how well your keywords rank. You may wish to spend some time educating yourself about this process. A good rule of thumb is to choose 2 to 3 word phrases from content that appears throughout your website that you expect to have the greatest appeal to the visitors you want to attract. I suggest that you consult with other colleagues as your create your list.

2. META Tags

Meta tags are special HTML tags that provide information about a webpage, such as who created the page, how often it is updated, what the page is about, and which keywords represent the page's content. Many search engines use this information when building their indices.
Meta tags should contain your basic content terms. I recommend that you do not use too many words (less than 25) and that you do not repeat keywords as this could cause the search engines to overlook your website. You can use Overture Term Suggestion Tool to find the highest rated keywords.
I also offer a simple free Online Tool to create your own meta tags. Once you’ve created your meta tags, you can use this Meta Tag Analyzer to see how search engine robots analyze your web site. This data will help you to determine if your web content or meta tags need any changes. Please keep in mind that search engines avoid sites with multiple unrelated meta tags.

3. URL Submission

Once your website is complete, its time to submit your site to the search engines. We strongly recommend using Promotion World’s free search engine submission tool. It’s a terrific service that allows you to submit 10 URLs at a time and to receive accurate and descriptive results on the submissions. As you review the results, it’s likely that you will find some failed submissions. For the failed submissions, Promotion World provides information on how to submit your site manually.

4. Site Ranking

Search engine optimization doesn’t end with submitting your website to search engines. You still need to determine the popularity of your site and make any necessary changes. In order to check how your site is ranked, go to Alexa.com. If your site ranking is between 1 and 100,000, it has a solid ranking. If you are ranked over 100,000 or you’re just not happy with your site ranking, a popular way to increase your ranking is to trade links to your site with other sites. This typically works because external links are the main criteria for Google’s ranking and Google is being used by such powerhouses as Yahoo, AOL, Infoseek, etc.

5. Website Promotion

Your search engine optimization endeavors should always be reinforced by other forms of promotion and marketing. One way to do this is to use a newsletter to deliver useful and informative content that will drive visitors to your website. Other methods of promotion include online advertising, print advertising, a special promotion, surveys, and word-of-mouth promotion through friends and family.
Website promotion is a crucial part of eBusiness. Success in sales is a numbers game and without serious web traffic you will not have the numbers you need to prosper.

4 Top Tips To Increase Your Website Traffic With Simple Search Engine Ranking

When you do a key word search in a search engine, do you go deeper than 1, 2, or maybe 3 pages? Most do not. 90% of the millions of daily searches stay in top 3 pages with 90% of all Internet traffic coming from search engines Google, MSN and Yahoo. This is why earning and keeping top ranking in these "big 3" for many wise tourism promoters, is one of their most profitable travel marketing strategies.

The active process of earning and keeping top ranking is called Search Engine Optimization (SEO). Here's some top tools and quick tips to enhance your ranking, or keep your ranking, no matter if you do it yourself or hire a SEO specialist.

What Are the Key Elements to Earn and Keep Top Ranking?

For Google, Yahoo and MSN it is all about your website's "relevancy". The websites that are most relevant to a key word search show up on the first pages. What determines your website relevancy falls into three main categories; your theme as defined by your content, HTML Meta tags and number of quality inbound relevant web links pointed at your website.

1: Website Theme and Focused Content

Here these few website that work with has three separate theme website; Alaska Fishing, Alaska dog sledding and Alaska hunting. This allows his websites to focus in on the top 5 -10 most searched for phrases within each theme and not dilute the "key word density".

2: HTML Meta Tags

HTML Meta tags help the search engine determine what your website is about. Find out your website's Meta tags or your competitors by looking for the "View Source" in your web browser when you have a page open. The most important Meta tags include, your page title, brief description and your key words. Once again, you want these to reflect your website theme and top key word phrases.

3: Inbound Relevant Web Links

Inbound (1-way) links from other relevant websites is very important to increase your ranking. The search engines are more likely to give your website higher ranking if you have more quality inbound links than your competitor because your website is considered more of a "authority site". Link trades are not bad if they are done in modest amounts, but they don't net you a 1-way link.

4: Tools to Earn Top Ranking

SEO is a long-term ongoing project that usually requires specialized tools and help because the Internet is competitive and constantly changing.
